River

The Eo is a lively and boisterous river that runs through the town of A Pontenova longitudinally from south to north.

Maybe for this reason, it has always occupied a privileged place in the daily life of its inhabitants: On the banks of the river the urban centre of A Pontenova was built; the river was a food supplier for many years and a meeting point for
amateurs of river fishing salmonids and also a place where several generations of neighbours played and learned how to swim.

Following the course of the Eo river as it passes through A Pontenova we will find several river beaches a few of them having picnic equipped spaces where you can spend a day with the family or with friends, or simply stop to rest while listening to the calm flow of the water.

RIVERSIDE BEACH OF “O POZO DA OLA”

It is the most well known and visited river beach due to its location within the urban area of A Pontenova. The riverside
location is equipped with benches, tables and grills, all the amenities to spend and enjoy a nice day by the river.

RIVERSIDE BEACH OF SALMEÁN

Located very close to the former fishermen’s refuge at Salmeán, which is now the Salmon Sealing Centre (an office for recording catches of Salmon). It has a walkway that crosses the Eo River, which, at the same time, marks the lower limit of Lot 2 corresponding to the Sameán Reserve.

RIVERSIDE BEACH OF “O FONDÓN”

Located within the recreational area of the same name. The variety of its landscape includes extensive forest and vegetation which is typical of the riverside areas.

It is equipped with numerous services such as: parking area, toilets, benches and tables, BBQs and a small area enabled as a playground, so it makes this river beach an ideal place to enjoy a leisurely day in peace.

“VEIGA DA PADA” PICNIC AREA

Located in the middle of the “Ruta do Ferrocarril”, makes this picnic area the best place to stop for a rest, have a snack and regain strength before continuing the walk to the end of the route.

“ERVELLE” PICNIC AREA

Like the picnic area of “Veiga da Pada”, it is located on the “Ruta do Ferrocarril” and is attached to Lot 2 of the A
Pontenova Fishing reserve. During the fishing season, it is easy to see the fishermen trying their luck in catching Salmon
from this location.
